Apology
As dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin I am deeply sorry for the understandable offence caused to members of the Church of Ireland and all who cherish Christ Church as a place of Christian worship, sanctity and prayer in relation to the holding of a concert by Vision Collector in the crypt on 7 October and its associated publicity. The promotional materials did not properly respect the nature of the venue and the organisers of the event have acknowledged this and apologised. Similar events will not be permitted in future and our rules about advance scrutiny of publicity materials will be enforced more effectively. I am taking measures which will be addressed at next week’s meeting of the cathedral board to ensure that only events which meet strict criteria on grounds of taste and suitability for a place of Christian worship will in future be considered. These procedures will be published in the public domain.
Yours sincerely
Dermot P Dunne, Dean of Christ Church Cathedral
