Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the start of Lent. Lent is a period of 40 days where we stop and reflect on the events leading up to the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ and renew ourselves as Christians.

We begin the Lenten period with Solemn Eucharist, celebrated this evening at 18.00 and sung by the Cathedral Choir. The setting is Byrd’s ‘Mass for four voices’ and Allegri’s beautiful ‘Miserere’.
