You are warmly invited to Choral Evensong on Thursday, 13 November at 18:00 in Christ Church Cathedral, as we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the canonisation of St Laurence O’Toole.
Appointed Archbishop of Dublin in 1162, St Laurence played a vital role during a time of significant political and ecclesiastical change. He died in Eu, Normandy, in 1180 and was canonised by Pope Honorius III in 1225, becoming Dublin’s first canonised saint.
We are honoured to welcome delegates from Eu, Normandy—the place of St Laurence’s death and burial—as we gather to mark this important milestone in the life of the Cathedral and city.
This special service takes place alongside our ongoing Lecture Series on St Laurence O’Toole, which explores his early life.
In honour of the occasion, admission to the Cathedral will be free on Thursday, 13 November, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about Dublin’s patron saint.
Following Evensong, the Community of St Laurence will host a celebratory dinner in the Cathedral Crypt. All are warmly welcome to attend.
