Friday 19 – Saturday 20 December 2014
Discover the true meaning of Christmas at Christ Church Cathedral this December.
Christ Church Cathedral is delighted to announce details of our Christmas Festival 2014. On Friday 19 and Saturday 20 December, for the first time in over a decade, Christ Church Cathedral will be opening its doors to visitors completely free of charge. What better time to visit this wonderful historic monument than at this most special time of the year?
Santa Claus is back in his cosy 12th century crypt grotto and ready to delight children of all ages, whilst the rest of our atmospheric crypt and grounds will be filled with Irish food and craft stalls. Stock up on Irish organic skincare or surprise someone special with some beautiful handcrafted Irish jewellery, indulge yourself with homemade truffles or pick up some traditional chutneys or home baked Christmas goodies.
Festive music is the order of the day with live samba music in aid of the Simon Community and a very special Christmas lunchtime concert given by the Young Dublin Symphonia. The cathedral and crypt will both be beautifully decorated with traditional trees, candles, garlands and a crib.
We really do have something for everyone: visitors can visit Santa, marvel at the beauty of the building, perhaps take a cathedral and belfry tour, all whilst finishing off those last bits of Christmas shopping and munching on some delicious festive treats in the grounds – don’t miss this wonderful traditional family experience right in the heart of the city this Christmas!
Open Friday 19 and Saturday 20 from 9am until 5pm
Admission: FREE
Visit to Santa: €12.50 per child, includes gift
Guided tour of cathedral and belfry + bell ringing experience: €4 per person or €10 per family
