This weekend sees Christmas celebrations continue at Christ Church Cathedral.
On Sunday morning at 11am, the cathedral voluntary choir sings Stanford’s Communion in C and the preacher will be the Rev’d Canon J McCullagh for the Second Sunday of Christmas. The voluntary choir will be conducted by our own assistant-organist, Dr David Bremner.
Sunday is the twelfth day of Christmas so on Monday we move into the Epiphany season. The Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Rev’d Dr M Jackson will be the celebrant at a Eucharist at 6pm. The cathedral choir returns for that service when, under the leadership of Organist and Director of Music, Mr Ian Keatley, they sing Thomas Luis da Vitoria’s Missa O Magnum Mysterium setting. The communion motet is Magi veniunt ab oriente Jerosolimam, Clemens non Papa.
For some reflection on the season of Epiphany, when we celebrate the coming of the Magi and the Light to lighten the gentiles, please visit the Rev’d Canon Patrick Comerford’s blog here.
All are welcome to both services.
