Culture Date with Dublin 8 2026 takes place from 4–10 May, celebrating the rich history, creativity and community of Dublin 8, with events happening across some of the area’s most iconic locations. We’re delighted to be part of this year’s programme, with our own series of special themed tours now open for booking on our website, and a special evening concert by internationally acclaimed performer Camille O’Sullivan, open for booking on Eventbrite.

‘Art and Architecture of Christ Church’. A special tour with historian and guide Lorcan Duffy

This special tour invites you inside Christ Church to discover the cathedral’s striking art and architecture. From its remaining medieval elements, Neo-Gothic restoration, colourful stained glass windows and captivating marble monuments, to its decorative floor tiles and cavernous crypt, discover the great wealth of craftsmanship in our 1,000-year old building with expert guide Lorcan Duffy. ‘A Military History of Ireland Through Christ Church Cathedral’s Monuments’. A special tour with military historian and guide John Doran

Join military historian John Doran on a fascinating tour which examines Ireland’s military history through the lens of Christ Church Cathedral’s monuments. Beginning with the Elizabethan conquest of Ireland and ending with the cenotaphs dedicated to soldiers who fought across the British empire in the nineteenth century, this tour will chart Ireland’s development from a colonial frontier to a key part of Britain’s imperial endeavours. ‘Heavenly Fashion: Dress history in Christ Church Cathedral’. A special tour with dress historian and guide Anya-Willow O’Brien

Fashion historian Anya-Willow O’Brien will take visitors on an intriguing journey through Christ Church Cathedral, examining what it can tell us about dress through the ages. From the eighteenth century lace and fur of the imposing Kildare monument to the Tudor costumes used in filming at the cathedral, this tour promises a novel take on the cathedral’s 1000 year history. For children aged 5-13.

28 children max. This tour is completely free (no cathedral admission charge). One accompanying adult free per child. Extra adults must pay on arrival.

Dress up as a monk and join us on this fun children’s tour of Christ Church Cathedral. Find out about life as a medieval monk and enjoy the chance to visit our incredible crypt. 

Camille O’Sullivan Live at Christ Church Cathedral

As part of Culture Date With Dublin 8 2026, internationally acclaimed performer Camille O’Sullivan brings her spellbinding live show to the extraordinary setting of Christ Church Cathedral. Renowned for her dramatic interpretations of artists such as Nick Cave, Jacques Brel, and David Bowie, Camille’s performances blur the lines between concert, theatre, and storytelling.

This unique evening promises a striking atmosphere, and a rare opportunity to experience one of Ireland’s most captivating live artists in one of the city’s most historic locations.

A highlight of the festival programme, this is a performance that perfectly reflects the spirit of Culture Date With Dublin 8.
