Education at Christ Church Cathedral

We are always delighted to welcome inquisitive minds of any age to the Cathedral and can tailor a visit to suit any group’s needs. Founded c.1030 by the Norse King, Sitriuc Silkenbeard and associated with many important figures in Irish History, including the infamous Strongbow and the Patron Saint of Dublin , Laurence O’Toole, Christ Church offers a wealth of historical resources which stretch over nearly 1000 years.

Please contact the cathedral on 01 677 8099 or contact our Education Officer Ruth Kenny via email at for more information. For school visits, please see our Schools page.

“I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our class visit to Christ Church last week. The guide, Daire, was really excellent with the boys, pitching his talk perfectly to their level and keeping them riveted with his great knowledge and humorous, good-natured presentation. He had them eating out of his hand. From Strongbow’s Tomb to the stolen heart of St Laurence O’Toole to the wonderful contents of the Crypt, the boys were given a fantastic taste of history. I was impressed how he took the time at the outset to ask which aspects we would like him to focus on and how he tailored his guiding accordingly. I would recommend a guided tour of the Cathedral to any class group, family group or to any group of visitors to Dublin keen to get a flavour of the city’s past.”
