€15 – €25

Experience poignant 17th-century Polish music in Irish premiere, Venetian style, with period instruments. Don’t miss this unique concert !

🎻 Embrace the Musical Majesty of Mikołaj Zieleński, one of the Greatest Composers of Polish Baroque!

Step into a realm of timeless beauty as we invite you to immerse yourself in the exquisite works of Mikołaj Zieleński, straight from the heart of 17th century Venice. Join us for an enchanting evening as we journey through Zieleński’s “Offertoria et Communiones,” a breathtaking collection of compositions published in 1611. From Zieleński’s extensive repertoire of 113 surviving works, we’ve carefully selected pieces to craft a captivating narrative steeped in the rich tapestry of salvation history. Let yourself be transported through the ages with texts inspired by the grandeur of Old Testament tales, the poignant narratives of the Gospels, and the vivid imagery found in the Acts.

Prepare to be enthralled by the diverse range of Zieleński’s compositions, from the grandeur of majestic double choirs to the intimacy of solo vocal parts. Delight your senses as you experience a symphony of sounds, brought to life by period instruments such as theorboes, organs, harpsichords, harps, viola da gambas, violones, and dulcians in enchanting configurations. Witness the transformative power of music as we breathe new life into Zieleński’s works, daring to explore uncharted realms of expression. In a poignant moment of reflection, we honor the spirit of resurrection by presenting the duet “Mitte manum tuam” solely through instruments—a stirring testament to our unwavering faith.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of musical mastery, where Zieleński’s compositions proudly stand alongside those of the greatest masters of the era. Don’t miss this extraordinary celebration of classical music brought to you by the Wroclaw Baroque Ensemble, under direction of Andrzej Kosendiak, renowned for their expertise in period instruments.

The project is generously funded by the Arts Council, and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
