The Ireland touring choir from CHS features members from across all of our choirs, but the flagship choir of the Clements High School Choir Program, the Clements Concert Chorale, from
which many of these singers come from has a long tradition of excellence under several fine directors. The choirs have consistently received high ratings at UIL and placed students in the TMEA All-State Large School Choirs. The Clements Concert Chorale is a mid-size select group of men’s and women’s voices that has received acclaimed reviews under the direction of Mrs. Janet Menzie. The choir forms the anchor for the six-choir program at Clements High School. These singers also perform in the Chorale Men’s and Chorale Women’s Choirs. In the fall of 2016, the choir had the honor of performing at the University of Houston’s Choral Invitational Concert as one of four invited choirs. In partnership with associate conductor, Ryan Bogner, Mrs. Menzie has worked to elevate the profile of this fine ensemble by performing at Carnegie Hall in 2018 and competing at “A Celebration of Excellence”, earning a “Performance of Distinction” in 2019. The Chorale Women placed as 3rd runner-up at the event.
The efforts of these young musicians has been recognized with four prestigious invitations during the 2019-2020 school year. The Clements Concert Chorale was the featured guest choir
at the Houston Choral Society’s “A Glorious Christmas” concert in December as well as the highlighted high school choir at the Houston Chamber Choir’s “Hear the Future” concert in January. In addition to the Concert Chorale’s invitation to perform at the Centennial TMEA Convention, the Chorale Women are the sole high school treble chorus to be selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Southwest (SWACDA) conference in March. The choir program frequently collaborates with the CHS Theater Department in musicals as well as with the CHS Orchestra in masterworks and holiday concerts. These students are incredibly high achievers, not only academically, but as athletes, artists, club officers, thespians, instrumentalists, and all around awesome humans!
