Today we’ll welcome The Hamilton College Choir from Clinton, New York, USA to perform a lunchtime recital at 13:30, conducted by Dr. Charlotte Botha.
Admission to the recital is included in the usual cathedral entry.
The Hamilton College Choir brings their spring program Guiding Stars to Ireland and the UK in March, 2025. Under the baton of Dr. Charlotte Botha, the choir explores Irish, Scottish, and North American choral and folk selections inspired by our relationship with the stars: navigation, discovery, awe, and the courage to embark on new adventures. Composers include Amy Beach, Mason Bynes, Rhona Clarke, Reena Esmail, James MacMillan, Charles Villiers Stanford, and Eric Whitacre.
The 52 singers of The Hamilton College Choir are ambassadors for one of North America’s first liberal arts colleges. Hamilton College, founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, is named after U.S. statesman Alexander Hamilton, a member of its first Board of Trustees. Just south of the Adirondacks, the tree-lined campus is located on a hill overlooking the village of Clinton, New York. The institution is need-blind, offers 58 areas of study in an open curriculum model, and prepares students for lives of meaning, purpose, and active citizenship with a focus on creative inquiry.
The Hamilton College choral program welcomes singers from all concentrations and vocal backgrounds, and builds on a long-standing tradition of music excellence, community, and life-long friendships. The flagship ensemble, Hamilton College Choir is committed to serving communities on and off campus through repertoire that embraces tradition, innovation, and inclusivity. The group tours annually during the spring recess, undertaking an international tour every four years. Recent tour destinations include Chicago, Boston, Montreal, Asheville, and now the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.
