Today Hvaler Trivselskor & Conductor Mette Østby will perform a lunchtime recital at 13:30.
Admission to the recital is included in the usual cathedral entry.
The choir was started in 1984 by a group of approximately 20 people. In 2024, we are 44 members total, 14 men and 30 women, 37 are coming to Dublin in September. The name is related to the place we come from: Hvaler, which is a group of islands on the coast of Norway, only a couple of kilometers from where the coast of Norway becomes the coast of Sweden.
4 500 people live here year around, and summer cabins fill up the islands with 40 000 more from late spring till late autumn. The last part can be translated to the “feel good choir”. We sing everything from musicals and popular songs, to classical and church music.
Mette Østby is the choir’s third conductor, and she has been with us since January 2017.
The choir regularly travel to destinations where we can sing and socialize, and have over the years visited many countries including Italy, Austria, Lithuania, Germany and Sweden. We now turn 40 years and we are looking forward to celebrate in the beautiful city of Dublin!
