Primary Schools can choose from the following options, all of which must be booked ahead:
SELF-GUIDED TOUR
Wander around the cathedral at your own pace and direct your own learning.
INTERACTIVE CATHEDRAL ACTIVITY SHEET
(most suitable for 6-10 year olds)
This fun and interactive way to learn allows children to work together in groups, guided by a teacher, to find objects and uncover the answers to questions about the history of Christ Church as they explore. The activity sheet – provided with pencil on arrival – takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and can be combined with a guided tour if requested at time of booking.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL TRAIL
(most suitable for 10-12 year olds)
A more advanced but enjoyable way to discover the cathedral with slightly more complex tasks and more history to keep older children engaged. Children will receive a trail on arrival — complete with a pencil and measuring tape! — and can work together in small groups, guided by a teacher. It takes approximately an hour to complete.
MONKS TOUR
(additional charge €4.50 per student)
Dress up as a monk and enjoy a fun tour with one of our cathedral guides focusing on life in the medieval cathedral.

‘HOW DID THEY DO THAT?’ CRAFT TRAIL
(most suitable for 12-15 year olds)
This fascinating trail, developed with the help of local craftspeople and makers, explores the huge amount of work and the many materials and methods that were used to create the cathedral building and its priceless collection of artefacts. This trail encourages active learning and takes approximately an hour to complete. Students will receive the trail – complete with pencil! – on arrival.
AUDIO GUIDE
(additional charge €2 per student)
Students can avail of our audio guide and explore the cathedral from three different perspectives: ‘Power and Politics’, ‘Christ Church and the City’ or ‘Music and Spirituality’.
GUIDED TOUR
(additional charge €4.50 per student)
A tour of Christ Church Cathedral will greatly enhance second-level students’ understanding of Irish history, culture and religion throughout the centuries.
BELFRY TOUR
(additional charge €15.00 per student)
Second-level students can climb up into our belfry and learn about our historic 19 bells, the oldest of which dates back to 1738. They can even have a go at ringing the bells themselves. Suitable for students aged 12 and over.
