A memorial service has been held to honour the life of the Very Revd Tom Salmon, former dean of Christ Church Cathedral.
The service took place in the context of Choral Evensong sung by the cathedral choir (a copy of the service sheet is available here) and was presided over by the Most Revd Dr M Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough.
Preaching at the service, the Revd Canon Dr Adrian Empey said, “Almighty God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you; the opening phrases of the collect appointed for this week, which exudes the spirit of St Augustine’s great autobiography, seem to me to capture as far as words can express, what Thomas Noel Desmond Cornwall Salmon, late dean of this cathedral church, was all about.”
The full text of Canon Empey’s sermon is available here.
