Christ Church Cathedral celebrates National Music Day
Initiated by Music Network in 2010 and now celebrating its fourth year, National Music Day will see thousands of people across Ireland join together in a vibrant celebration of live music by staging a myriad of events in villages, towns and cities, throughout the day and into the night. National Music Day is a completely inclusive event that welcomes all types of music performance and genres – from orchestras to one-man bands, from jazz, rap and improvised to classical– anything goes! Musicians young and not so young, amateur, professional, experienced and inexperienced will make music right across the country on Friday 21st June and the great news is that you don’t have to be a musician to join in!
National Music Day at Christ Church Cathedral celebrates the spirit of collaboration in music and performance, with a diverse and exciting line-up of inspired pairings from Ireland, including some very special guests. There are a number of pop-up events throughout the day in Christ Church Cathedral. First off we have The Magic of Music and a performance of Lighting The Flame performed by children the local area. We then have a exciting performance by George Higgs of the Acoustic Battery Company followed by a new collaborative performance entitled Beal, by our very own assistant organist, David Bremner. Finishing the night we will host a very special event entitled Altered. Altered is a collaboration between Christ Church Cathedral and LeCool Dublin is all about the connections set in the majestic surroundings of Christ Church Cathedral, this is a happening not to be missed.
