Moving on Music in association with Note Productions Presents ‘THE NECKS’
Friday 3rd October 2014, 8pm
‘The Necks are the masters’
– The Guardian
‘One of the greatest bands in the world.’-
– New York Times
This October, Ireland will play host to The Necks, a band regularly cited as ‘one of the most extraordinary groups on the planet…’ – The Guardian. The four-date tour will see the band play intimate shows in Cork, Dublin, Derry and Belfast, reaching parts of the island yet to experience the cult phenomenon.
How to describe the trio? Peerless, boundary pushing, bewildering; The Necks are like nothing else. Every performance is a singular event, entirely improvised and working with the acoustics of the room. To experience the band live is quite special indeed.
In recent years, along with their regular international touring, The Necks have been invited by Nick Cave to appear at All Tomorrows Parties and collaborated with Brian Eno in PURE SCENIUS at Sydney Opera House and Brighton Festival. In 2013 they released their 17th album Open to critical acclaim, as they continue to brace their standing as ‘one of the greatest bands in the world’. – (New York Times)
Together for over 25 years, the Australian cult trio are recognised internationally as an unrivalled band. Featuring lengthy pieces, which build in a mesmerising epic fashion, their shows are never less than phenomenal.
Not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor jazz, the music of The Necks is like nothing you’ve heard before.
All dates have limited seating; early booking is strongly advised.
Supported by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and An Chomhairle Ealaíon, North/South touring fund.
