About Christ Church Cathedral
We look forward to welcoming you to Christ Church Cathedral, the spiritual heart of Dublin.
Located in the heart of Dublin city centre, Christ Church was originally a Viking church and has been welcoming pilgrims and visitors for almost 1,000 years.
Today, it is a working Anglican cathedral. When you enter, you’ll see the large Nave with its high ceilings and medieval tiled floor.
Below the cathedral is the crypt, the city’s oldest building still in use. Above it is the belfry, where you can learn about our world-famous bells.
Throughout the cathedral, you’ll find many historic features, including:
Strongbow’s final resting place, the heart of St. Laurence O’Toole, a rare copy of the Magna Carta and our famous mummified cat and rat.
Come on a journey of discovery in the spiritual heart of Dublin city centre.
