Psalm Studies

Every day in the Cathedral’s worship we read the psalms. The psalms are some of the most beautiful poetry ever written, and they contain every human state from elation to depression, hope to fear and anger to joy. Their lilting cadences comfort, encourage, inspire, equip and challenge us as we walk through life with God day by day. The psalms treat issues of perennial relevance like self-knowledge, journeying, mental illness, nationalism, colonialism and the Other.

During Autumn 2023, Edwin, our Dean’s Vicar, led a series of discussions on the psalms, providing the opportunity for participants to choose their favourite psalm for discussion!

Psalm Studies took place in the cathedral on Monday 11 September at 18:00, and on each following Monday on Zoom, until 6 November, once again in person for the concluding session.
