Youth Engagement & Learning

Here in the music department, we are passionate about learning and sharing our musical tradition with a wider audience. By offering programs aimed at both aspiring singers and organists, we hope to encourage high-quality music making, promote accessibility, and inspire the next generation of church musicians.

Organ Outreach

These free events, led by the cathedral organists, act as an introduction to an otherwise mysterious instrument. For information about the next session, please see our Facebook page.

In 2023, the cathedral committed to cover the costs of teaching 3 young pupils. Alongside standard teaching, the students will gain insight into the role of the organ within the Anglican tradition. If you are interested and aged between 10 and 17, you can read more here.

Choral Outreach in Schools

We are currently working to deliver our new initiative, Choral Outreach in Schools. Led by the newly appointed Music Outreach Coordinator, we will be providing a high quality choral education in the classroom. The children, primarily in 4th-6th classes will also have the opportunity to perform in the cathedral with our choirs and, as a special treat, they will be invited to attend one of the cathedral choir’s sell out Christmas concerts.

More information will be available soon!

A young person plays the cathedral organ, and two other people stand and watch nearby.
