Coming in Autumn 2018–a whole new look for the grounds of Christ Church Cathedral!
With support from Failte Ireland and Dublin City Council work is now underway on the cathedral grounds. The ground works are part of the city’s overall development of the Dubline Trail, highlighting heritage sites, architecture, history and a window into the character of the Dublin’s neighbourhoods. Within the project the cathedral’s historic garth will receive a total makeover to provide improved landscaping and a viewing platform. The highlight of these works will be the installation of an inlaid stone labyrinth, inviting local and international pilgrims alike to partake in the sense of spiritual journey which is at the heart of the cathedral.
All are still welcome!
Though there will be some disruption, we will endeavor to maintain full access to the cathedral for visitors and for all who are take part in daily worship with us. Extra staff will be in place on the grounds to guide you to our temporary entrance, located at the cathedral’s south transept.
While works are underway you can even enjoy the delightful images, created for us by Unthink and the illustrator Ruan van Vliet, highlighting some of the unique characters that populate the cathedral’s history!
