With the theme, “Songs for a Starlit Night”, the internationally-acclaimed chamber choir will consider the night-sky from the hugely diverse artistic viewpoints of numerous composers. Some familiar – like the timeless Monteverdi and the tirelessly trendy Eric Whitacre – and others still just beginning to make their exciting impact on Irish audiences from choral-composing hotbeds in Scandinavia and the Baltic nations.Every one of them presents a distinct, stirring and poetic response to the awe of the vast heavens and the beauty and symbolism of the stars at night.
The concert also includes a mixed selection of original pieces and arrangements by Irish composers, with the entire concert derived from a large programme NDV is bringing to a week-long event in St Lo, France, in late October. Polyfollia is the biennial World Showcase and Marketplace for Choral Singing, and New Dublin Voices is honoured to be the first ever Irish choir invited to take part.
NDV looks forward to welcoming audiences in Dundalk with special guests Clermont Chorale (Fri Oct 10th), in Belfast with special guests Grosvenor Chorale (Sat Oct 11th), and, following its return from France, in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin (Sat Nov 10th).
