Lunchtime Recital – St Andrew’s Concert Choir

Today at 13:30 St Andrew’s Concert Choir will perform a lunchtime recital.

Admission to the recital is included in the usual cathedral entry.

St Andrew’s Concert Choir is a community choir from Ontario, Canada and on tour in Ireland with a 40 singers strong choir, under direction of Devon L. Hansen.

The St. Andrew’s Concert Choir is an extension of the St. Andrew’s Cancel Choir from St. Andrew’s United Church, a historic 189-year-old church in Chatham Ontario (St. Andrew’s United Church | Chatham, Ontario (standrewschatham.org).

St Andrew’s Concert Choir has been performing for concerts and special events since 2015. This group is comprised of all ages and abilities from amateur to professional. They typically perform 3-4 concerts a year and an overseas trip bi-annually and this time in Ireland. They are looking forward to performing at lunchtime in Christ Church cathedral Dublin on 30th July.

DEVON L HANSEN, director BMus, MA, RMT, as the Director of Music at St. Andrew’s, oversees an energetic and growing music ministry. He founded the concert series “Saturdays at 7” which is now in its eleventh season. He directs the Chancel Choir, which is a 40-voice choir that sings each Sunday as well as the Concert Choir, which is a 60-voice community choir that performs at annual concerts. Devon also directs the CK Chamber Orchestra, which is now in its 3rd season. On top of the adult ensembles, he is also the co-director of the Bel Canto Choir School for children ages 8-18.

Devon Hansen obtained a Bachelor of Music in piano performance magne cum laud as well as a Master of Arts in Musicology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He also attended the “Musician’s Mentoring Course” at the National Ballet School at the young age of 16. He has been accompanying classes both in theatre, music, and dance on both sides of the border for almost a decade now. He is most proud to have accompanied under the late Erich Kunzel and John Morris Russell. Due to his energy, passion and vibrant playing, Devon is actively in demand as a soloist, chamber artist, composer, teacher, and music director.
