The Archbishop will celebrate the Eucharist of the Last Supper in the cathedral. This commemorates the Last Supper of Christ with his disciples before He is betrayed and handed over to the authorities. At the end of the Eucharist all the altars of the cathedral are stripped bare and any ornaments in the cathedral are removed to leave a stark and empty cathedral in preparation for the commemoration of the Passion on Good Friday.
