The culmination of all the liturgies of the worldwide Church happens on Easter Day when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The whole faith of the Christian Church is founded on the resurrection and thus the reason for its importance in the church year.
Today in the cathedral the Dean will celebrate a sung Festal Eucharist accompanied by the choir with brass and timpani. The Archbishop will preach at the service and there will be a special reception after the service in the cathedral South Transept. This marks the end of the Easter Triduum and the entry into the Easter Octave.
We rejoice in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
