Lunchtime Recital – Westchester Children’s Chorus

5 July 13:30 - 14:30

Today the Westchester Children’s Chorus will perform a lunchtime recital at 13:30. Admission to the recital is included in the usual entry.

About the Westchester Children’s Chorus

It is the mission of The Westchester Children’s Chorus to engage and empower our diverse community of children through choral education and performance opportunities. Our commitment to artistry and performance creates a collaborative space with hands-on musical learning experiences, while bringing cultural events to the residents of Westchester and its surrounding areas.

The Westchester Children’s Chorus grew out of a festival day we held in the spring of 2015. We saw that there were very few children’s choral organizations, in Westchester, that were unaffiliated with a religious institution or a private music conservatory. Since then, we have grown our choirs from 10 singers to the WCChorus you see today.  With two locations, eight performing ensembles (ages 7-18), and early childhood classes, we are the proud winners of the 2023 Arts Westchester Education Award!  As of the Spring of 2024 we serve over 150 students from up to 20 different school districts in Westchester County, New York!

In addition to our regular seasonal concerts we participate in community performances all around Westchester and the New York metropolitan area.  The chorus made its Carnegie Hall debut in June 2022. WCChorus experienced its first domestic performance tour in the summer of 2023, participating at the Sing a Mile High Choral Festival in Denver, Colorado.

We are thrilled and humbled to be making our international performance tour debut in Ireland!

Amanda K. Gundling- Founder/Conductor

Note from the Founder/Artistic Director

I am humbled to serve as the Artistic Director of the Westchester Children’s Chorus.  This is an astounding group of young musicians and their dedication and love of choral music and singing is palpable.  Watching and listening to our signers find their voice and use their voices for positive messaging and empathetic storytelling has been one of the greatest privileges.  I am brimming with excitement as the Westchester Children’s Chorus expands and grows. I am forever grateful to our team of educators, administrators, board members, parents and singers for continuing to give WCChorus life and energy. -Amanda Gundling
